Digital Pilot
About this good practice
SME’s often face the challenge of digitalization alone and have to adapt to stay competitive.
This is where the Digital Pilot offers business owners on-the-ground assistance in becoming more resilient.
The Pilot, together with business owners, analyze the status quo, identify needs, and develop roadmaps for the businesses, which may include reviewing cash register systems, assisting with grant applications, offering website optimization sessions, social media consulting, and more.
Objectives:
• Help for self-help -> knowledge base "know-how to go„
• Lower hurdles for digital change
• Continuous expansion of the digital infrastructure.
• Transferable to other cities and regions.
Resources needed
Personnel costs for at least one Pilot and operating resources. The technical equipment includes devices for consultations such as a MacBook, iPad, iPhone, as well as a fixed PC for the office. A terminal, which includes a POS cashier system, should be purchased.
Evidence of success
To bring power to the ground, the Digital Pilot works closely with the Economic Department Digital Team in Bremen at the state level, cooperates with the other business areas, with associate Clusters in the IT sector as well as with actors from the local creative scene. The Pilot acts as a "street worker", supporting the examination of digital strategies and helping to initiate their implementation in companies. The Pilot also develops his own digital projects and provides inspiration.
Potential for learning or transfer
Without an in-depth examination of digital solutions tailored to the specific needs of retailers, the local cities run the risk of being left behind
1. Establishment of a regular digital survey on the digital needs of retailers.
2. Establishment of a central point of contact for companies.
3. Developing a vision of how a city can function digitally and sustainably in the future.
4. Collaboration with the local UAS and development of a digital map that can be used to map the progress of the city's digital offensive in its various forms.
5. Online platform or a collaboration with a reputable partner to train entrepreneurs in the use of online shops. 6. Share knowledge, talk to each other and learn from each other's experiences.
So far, the Pilot has achieved reaching 150 SME digitally, 64 one-on-one meetings, 49 cooperative events and 25 learning events.
