About this good practice
Motorization rate in Rome is 9 vehicles per 10 inhabitants, definitely unsustainable, and so high compared to 4 vehicles per 10 inhabitants in Paris and London.
Italian far reaching urbanization accentuates the mobility challenge and environmental impact. Car sharing service is an important tool of individual flexible mobility to relief urban circulation, congestion and air pollution. Overall car sharing is regarded as most suitable for higher density urban neighbourhoods with good walking, cycling and public transit services. In addition, electric car-sharing gives consumers both, a practical alternative to owning a personal vehicle, that is commonly driven less 10,000 kilometres per year or daily parked for 95%, and to take action to fight climate change.
Electric Car-sharing is continuously expanding and reaching a wider range of users in Lazio region: in fact, Share’ngo is introducing car-sharing fleets in small and medium-sized city centres of Lazio region such as in the city of Rieti, in the Eastern regional area: this new service is addressed to people daily commuting from the small urban satellite towns around Rieti to Rieti city centre. Evidence of success
Share’Ngo electric car sharing has the key objective of contributing significantly to sustainable mobility patterns by establishing an electric mobility culture, besides to use various transport options instead of car ownership, to strongly contribute to reduce CO2 emissions. The GP responds to the need of transition to zero emissions sources for electrical energy to benefit people moving around in cities and regions, in terms of costs, environmental impacts and ease of transport.

Car sharing is attractive as a transportation service that fills the gap between public transit and private cars. Less congestion and better quality of the air. On the medium-long term it’s estimated that one shared vehicle removes from the road the equivalent of 8 private vehicles. Car sharing can be useful to a wide range of consumers, including many relatively wealthy households that avoid owning a 2nd or 3rd vehicle. Electric Car Sharing includes the environmental dimension and the sustainability to decrease human impact on the natural resources. Therefore, E-Car Sharing has a great, but mostly unexploited, potential on the EU scale. E-Car sharing at urban level supplements the sustainable transport modes of walking and cycling to concretely reduce CO2 emissions. With E-Car sharing as an e-mobility market-based service, transport can be organised more rationally & more resource efficiently to seriously achieve the EU goals to reduce CO2 emissions by 60% by 2050 compared to 2010
