This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
The food supplement is elaborated from a sequential and differential extraction, allowing to obtain a natural extract rich in Iodine, that afterward is packaged and sold in capsules. The main goal is to fight the Iodine deficiency present in Madeira population, and other territories.
The food condiments are made from various marine algae present in the seas of Madeira, these are meant to replace the salt in the food partially (algae with salt) or totally (pure algae). This can be achieved because the marine algae contains salt crystals which can completely replace the salt.
When adding marine salt to the alga or various algae we obtain a partial substitution of salt.
The consumption of our products offers a wide variety of benefits such as:
-Increased metabolical activity in the organism
-Antioxidant properties in the cells
-Anticancer properties
-Balances Thyroid
-High nutritional value

Resources needed
The main resources of our company are the macroalgae: Ulva lactuca, Asparagopsis taxiformis, Zonaria tournefortii, Halopteris scoparia e sargassum vulgare.
Evidence of success
There is a growing demand for our products by the population, which shows an exponential success. This growth led to our own production of macroalgae through Aquaculture.
Potential for learning or transfer
According to our latest data divulgated by Macaronesia, together with the University of Madeira, the population, in general, suffers from Iodine deficiency. Through the consumption of our food condiments and food supplements, we can improve this lack of Iodine. Therefore, one of the major potentials of our company is precisely to fight this deficiency and give an answer to other problems like cancer, nutritional deficiency, and thyroid disorders.
Our company is willing to establish partnerships, and contacts with other companies so that our products have a wider understanding and interconnection at an international level.
