About this good practice
The Green Infrastructure booklets are intended to help the work of professionals, decision-makers and the information of residents. The publications present a complex set of tools for green infrastructure developments through domestic and international good practices. In addition to the general principles and good examples, they contain the various possibilities of implementation, as well as their technical and plant physiological conditions and limitations. The series covers all major topics, from basic knowledge of urban ecology to ecosystem services to green spaces to the ecological system of stormwater management.

With these publications, the Municipality of Budapest wanted to promote the development of urban green infrastructure, the work of professionals, decision-makers and the provision of information to citizens. The publications present gap-filling professional, yet easy-to-understand and applicable proposals that not only facilitate planning, but also enable the wider application of innovative and climate-friendly solutions in developments and investments, even at a smaller community level.
Potential for learning or transfer
There is a strong potential to transfer and implement such booklets in several municipalities all around Europe. In addition to assessing the current situation, the booklets make a number of recommendations for solutions; using a toolkit, they provide thought-provoking ideas and concrete proposals on a number of residential and urban development issues related to green infrastructure development.
The publication contributes to the focus on the protection of urban green spaces and to the protection of these valuable urban elements using the necessary tools from design through implementation to subsequent maintenance.
