About this good practice
Ageing people living in rural areas are facing two main problems related to diet and health, especially if they are dependent or have any problem of mobility; some municipalities don’t have neither food stores nor restaurants where to buy/eat and lonely people are not use to preparing healthy food.
HASTA LA COCINA offers to its customers living in small and remote rural areas (mainly in Arlanza’s territory, province of Burgos – Spain) solutions to have access to healthy and homemade food which is daily delivery at home. All menus are prepared with local products (with competitive prices).
The business idea was initially thought as a food delivery service at home for ageing people with some disabilities or mobility’s difficulties in nearby rural municipalities. Years later, the company has diversified its services offering new ones: daily menus for provincial companies and special lunches for families, friends, work colleagues…
Customers (beneficiaries of this service) are both rural inhabitants and companies (mainly in the province of Burgos) with different needs.

Potential for learning or transfer
Problem addressed for this good practice is global and common in an important number of rural settlements and territories all over Europe (ageing people who need consume healthy food, no restaurants nor food stores in the municipality…). Because of this, we consider that it has a big potential to be transferred to other regions.
