About this good practice
15 years ago, the park elaborated a digital strategy. The ambition was to take a leading position nationally in the digital realm. The goal was to educate and disseminate the importance of energy in our daily lives in a technologically innovative way, using VR/AR or browser based technology in many different aspects; sustainable urban planning, how to build an energy neutral cabin, how to get to the cabin using public transport, and visiting a barn to see how the animals are fed and cared for, among other things.
Target, beneficiaries:
The main beneficiaries are the visitors, which are mainly young families. The goal is also to extend the season. The energy center therefore also caters to school classes during the school year.
Objectives:
The overarching goal is to digitize all aspects of the center that are practical and feasible. The goal is to have interesting and interactive experiences in the center at all times. The park is inspired by other leaders in the industry. An ambition is to be able to produce new attractions and products. Thus, the Energy Center aims to launch at least one new digital product each year.
Terms and Conditions:
The Energy Center is fully financed by the local power plant companies. This generates more traffic to the park as a whole.

The technology attracts children, families and schools, and is widely popular. The pandemic situation in 2020 demands more digitalization. Without the digital strategy as the foundation, the park would have run into real trouble when COVID hit.
Potential for learning or transfer
VR/AR as an educational tool can be applied also in the tourist sector to attract more visitors. Travelers and tourist often yearn to be informed and educated. It is a much more fun and interesting way to learn. This energy center provides just that, and the possible areas of application are many: museums, art exhibitions, viewpoints in nature etc.
