Introducing a new concept – the Speoconcert!
About this good practice
This concept – the speoconcert in Blata Cave was organized for the first time in 2011 and since then the event has become a tradition, being organized by the Administration of the Mehedinți Plateau Geopark , on the occasion of “ Festive days of Mehedinți Plateau Geopark”, in partnership with the I. Șt. Paulian Art School, with the support of Mehedinti County Council and implication of regional or national artists of classical music, JAZZ and folk.
The purpose of the event was to promote tourism in the karst area of Balta, but preserving the natural heritage by discovering the harmonious beauty of the place.
One day every year, the cave “wakes up”. Performers, guests, tourists and organizers carrying instruments and equipment walk 1/2 hour from Balta village to the cave. The cave has a good acoustic; this reflects the success of these concerts.
