About this good practice
After signing a contract with the National Trust Ecofund for improving the energy efficiency of Trakiya University (Faculty of Engineering and Technology, located in Yambol) a massive reconstruction of the university building was undertaken. The project called “Improvement of educational infrastructure of faculty “Engineering and Technology” at Trakiya University through a package of energy saving measures” is funded by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works through the Operational Program "Regions in Growth" 2014-2020.
Thermal insulation has been installed on the outer walls, floors and roof of the university buildings and the canteen. The depreciated wooden frameworks have been replaced with a new aluminum profiles with interrupted thermal bridge and double glazing with internal K glass, guaranteeing highest energy efficiency in all seasons. 5 pieces of solar panels were installed on the rooftop of the building, directly connected with a new boiler with a volume of 1000 liters. This quantity is enough to satisfy domestic hot water demand of the kitchen unit of the canteen. The old luminaries have been replaced with new energy-saving lamps in all rooms of the faculty.
The renovation has a positive energy saving and environmental effect, achieved as a result of the implementation of the green project, which is expressed in the reduction of greenhouse gases, improvement of the educational infrastructure and comfort in the buildings of the Technical Faculty.
