RuralLAB 3.0 - Fostering Empowerment of Young People in Rural Areas Through Social Entrepreneurship
About this good practice
Strong depopulation in rural regions, especially of young people. The general objective of this project is to reduce the heavy depopulation in rural regions and loosing young people in them. The specific objective is to provide young people in rural environments with tools that enable them to start their own social businesses, favouring the exchange of ideas and perspectives with social enterprises and other social entrepreneurs through the ruraLAB platform.

Evidence of success
Developed: 1. A guide of competencies for social entrepreneurs in rural areas. 2. A self-diagnostic tool that allows young people in rural areas to measure their competences related to social entrepreneurship. 3. A virtual training environment and a series of training contents. 4. A Platform which allows the registration of young people in rural areas. 5. A guide that can be disseminated by youth associations and town councils. 6. A guide focused on policy makers to set up digital rural hubs.
Potential for learning or transfer
The activities have been implemented and the approach was tested in 6 EU countries: Bulgaria (Lead partner), Spain, Italy, Cyprus, the |Netherlands, and Greece. This was achieved through the collaboration of 7 partners from these 6 countries. 6 partners have been selected whose countries are facing this problem, and one (The Netherlands) which was an example of good practice in social entrepreneurship in urban areas. Through 4 Transnational Project Meetings, 5 Multiplier Events, 1 European Seminar and 4 Intellectual Outputs, they developed a series of tools and results that focus and direct towards the objectives of this initiative.
