Social Inclusion and Job Services
About this good practice
The Scope Social Service addresses the problems of frail people who are unable to integrate or reintegrate socially and don’t have economic independence and an active role in society. These people are helped to prepare finding and keeping a job and get out of the social exclusion and a dependence to welfare system.
Vulnerable families have reached good results in several years of experimentation, in the processes of contrasting economic poverty, through the assessment, acquisition and enhancement of personal and professional resources-including through soft skills and specific training-functional for the resumption of a work path or active citizenship in a framework of autonomy and long-life learning education.
Unemployed people, Italian and migrants combined with other issues represent the beneficiaries of the social service interventions, while the most successful intervention is job placement and training.
“Orienta Lavoro” is an office of 2nd level that works in a multi-professional equipe of the Social Service denominated “Equipe Inclusione”; its activities are contrasting housing, economy, social exclusion, and work-educational problems.
The multi-professional equipe evaluate the soft skills, the competences, and the experiences in the work-educational field.
It can provide the access to educational courses and/or internships; the project will be managed with a personalized double-tutoring activity.
Resources needed
The good practice is developed by Ambito though a Job desk for boost multilevel competences and training for people. Staff is formed by 3 people: 1 responsible, 1 job mediator and 1 job educator/counsellor.
Financial resources are given every year by Region and Municipality (70 % and 30%).
Evidence of success
Ambito Noncello get support from business sector through agreements (n.75 placement/year) for internships in work situations and 20 job opportunities (in 2022). Moreover, we can count also the collaborations with cooperatives (social providers). A thorough evaluation of the project has just been completed, which shows a number of positive results in terms of people well-being, social conditions of inclusion and employment.
Potential for learning or transfer
How to strengthen integrated socio-educational evaluation (building a system for comparability of skills) is the key element regarding work between the different levels within the Social Service and externally (training institutions, places for internships, local and ethnic community etc.) always putting the person at the centre, gratitude towards social services and improved quality of life and sense of belonging to the community.
The employment elements’ evaluation in a context of multi-professional equipe, which is supported by a purposely-made tool, allows the planning of work-educational and social-employment paths focused on the characteristics, inclinations and needs of the beneficiaries while respecting fragilities and limitations.
