About this good practice
The school is run by the Education Zone, whose shareholders are the Lodz Special Economic Zone and three companies operating in the : Miele, Ceramika Tubądzin and Delia Cosmetics.
The facility is recognized by the Ministry of Education as an experimental school by introducing a new profession to the education system.
Automation and robotics classes are conducted by the lecturers of the Lodz University of Technology and take place in the laboratories of the University. The laboratories are equipped with specialist instruments, including a 3D printer and robots. The students of the Technical School have constant contact with the business environment, thanks to the cooperation with the Lodz Special Economic Zone and patron companies. The school provides classes and internships in companies and the opportunity to participate in conferences and trainings.
Apart from professional lessons, the school also offers business English lessons and German lessons from scratch. In the first year of the school's operation two classes with 24 students each were established.
The initiative to establish the school was preceded by research to determine which profession will be most useful in the near future. The research was conducted among investors and companies operating in the Lodz Special Economic Zone, and was carried out by the University of Lodz.

As an experimental institution, the school has to meet requirements described in the educational law: running an innovative education system, using proprietary programs, employing highly specialized staff, and conducting education using the most modern methods based on a well-equipped teaching base.
Evidence of success
The school has the status of an experimental school, which means that it meets very strict standards for this type of institution. Graduates of the school are therefore guaranteed that their diplomas, certificates or qualifications will be recognized in Poland and internationally. The school expands its offer by introducing extracurricular courses. This year it started the project " Competences for Industry 4.0", which allows to gain additional skills in robot programming and virtual reality.
Potential for learning or transfer
Competence of the employees is one of the most important issues that emerges in discussions around Industry 4.0.
Automation and Robotics Technical School is facing up to the current requirements of the market by educating young people in a profession whose importance will be constantly growing.
Graduates of the school can continue their education at technical universities or, thanks to internships in large companies, start their professional work with professional knowledge.
The practice can be transferred everywhere, but when implementing it, attention should be paid to close cooperation between business environment institutions, entrepreneurs and the academic sector.
