The Educlick – program
About this good practice
Educlick is the national program through which used computers become valuable resources for digital education in schools, NGOs, and institutions that work with disadvantaged communities. The donated computers are compatible and of sufficient quality to be used in implementing various proposed educational projects, ranging from the modernization of computer labs to non-formal education activities and digital literacy. The electrical and electronic devices are prepared for reuse within one of the socio-professional insertion workshops established by the association for vulnerable individuals who are capable of working but need a transitional period to integrate into the labor market.
While professionally managing waste and refurbishing used IT equipment, the association facilitates social stabilization, learning work skills, and preparation for employment. The processes within the workshop are carried out under the careful supervision of team leaders to ensure that the refurbished computers meet the required standards and provide long-lasting usability.
Resources needed
The total budget of the project is 195,905.48 EUR, of which 166,502.49 EUR is financed by the state budget and 29,382.12 EUR is co-financed.
Evidence of success
The objective of the project is to increase the capacity of the Educlick goods repair and refurbishment center and to process electrical cables, having electrical cable processing lines.
The project is currently underway (from May 2023 to September 2024), and so far, 3,777 computers have been donated to 25,781 beneficiaries.
Potential for learning or transfer
Several learning or transfer activities to other regions and countries can include:
Searching for new possibilities and shifting the use of waste materials;
The efficient use of resources, reuse, repair and recycling;
Modernizing testing laboratories for materials and products resulting from circular economy.
