About this good practice
The Xtela project addresses the challenges faced by startups in finding suitable spaces for idea development and establishing connections with larger companies for implementation. Housed in the renowned 'Xtela Tower' on the 6th floor, this initiative provides multifunctional spaces conducive to innovation. The project is implemented by SGPCTCAN.
The program offers:

• Mentoring: Technical, internationalization, and innovation guidance
• Training
• Networking: Opportunities to connect with professionals for potential collaborations
Key objectives of the project include:
• Accelerating startup growth through stakeholder support
• Driving digital transformation
• Facilitating public-private collaborations
• Promoting local talent while attracting national and international expertise
Who Can Participate? The project is open to:
• National or international startups established within the last 8 years
• Specifically focused on robotics, artificial intelligence, big data, and energy sustainability
• Compliance with payment obligations
Each company may submit multiple projects, but only one will be selected.
Seventy-nine startups have submitted a total of 155 registrations to compete for 17 challenges presented by prominent companies in Cantabria, spanning industrial, biotechnology, and health sectors.
Resources needed
The project is financed by the General Direction of innovation.
SGPCTCAN receives the funds needed to finance all the expenses that must assume derived from the complete execution of the program.
It has no cost to the startups that may formalize contracts with the interested companies.
Evidence of success
Seventeen challenges posed by large companies have been successfully met. Startups have proposed numerous ideas, with companies selecting those aligning best with their needs. Startups then develop and implement these ideas, resulting in mutual benefits.

Startups participating in Xtela have not only developed their ideas but also established working relationships with large companies, securing financial resources. Institutional support for startups enhances regional productivity while attracting innovative ideas to the area. `
