Call for projects in interregional innovation investment

The Commission 's first call for projects for the new interregional innovation investment instrument (I3) is open. 

Funding instrument

The new funding instrument allocates 570 MEUR over seven years to support the commercialisation and scaling up of interregional innovation projects in shared smart specialisation priority areas. At least half of the funds are going to less developed regions to encourage the development of European value chains with a strong cohesion dimension.

The instrument will support partnerships of researchers, businesses, civil society and public administrations to identify and refine common areas of investment.

The call has two strands:

• Strand one: Financial and advisory support for investments in interregional innovation projects
• Strand two: Financial and advisory support to the development of value chains in less developed regions
