Interreg Europe adopted by the European Commission!

The interregional cooperation programme for 2014-2020 – Interreg Europe – was officially approved by the European Commission on 11 June 2015 in Brussels. Interreg Europe aims to improve the implementation of regional development policies and programmes, in particular programmes for Investment for Growth and Jobs and European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) programmes.

By co-financing projects and four thematic platforms it allows regional and local public authorities and other players of regional relevance across Europe to exchange practices and ideas on the way public policies work, and thereby find solutions to improve their strategies for their own citizens.

The programme is targeted at regions of the 28 EU Member States, plus Norway and Switzerland.

Four topics were selected in order to make the best use of limited funds. The more focused the actions, the higher chances they deliver effective results.

The programme has a budget of 359 million euros, financed from the European Regional Development fund (ERDF), for the period 2014-2020.
