Interreg Europe good practices to support Turkish policymakers in implementing their S3
On 25 June 2024, Arnault Morisson, thematic expert for a Smarter Europe from the Policy Learning Platform, participated in the event 'Capacity Enhancement for Development and Implementation of Smart Specialisation Strategies in Türkiye’s Regions' (CEDIS3) project.
This project is co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the Republic of Türkiye. It aims to enhance the capacity of national and regional stakeholders to design and implement effective Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3) in Türkiye.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye, Directorate General for Development Agencies, presented to Turkish policymakers various European initiatives that can assist them in designing and implementing their S3, including Interreg Europe and the S3 Community of Practice.
During the webinar, Arnault Morisson presented a policy brief on Smart Specialisation Strategy and shared good practices from Interreg Europe projects aimed at supporting the Entrepreneurial Discovery Process (EDP) in different European regions. Key initiatives discussed included:
- RIS3CAT (Catalonian RIS3) Monitoring System: an open data monitoring system using innovative tools such as social network analysis (SNA) to provide a comprehensive picture of the regional innovation ecosystem and policy interventions.
- Strategic Research and Innovation Partnerships (SRIPs): long-term partnerships focusing on nine areas related to Industry 4.0, the digital economy, and the circular economy, involving quadruple-helix actors—private companies, public institutions, universities, and civil society.
In total, over 140 participants took part in the webinar.
