National event "L’Acqua e le Foreste" (Water and Forests)

On 21 and 22 March, on the International Forestry Day and World Water Day, the Regional Water Supply Agency of Puglia (Italy) in collaboration with the Environmental and Agro-Food Unit Command of the Forestrey Carabinieri corps and the Italian Society of Forest Restoration (SIRF), organizes the conference "Water and Forests" with the aim of:

•    illustrate the most recent studies on the interaction between water and forests;

•    provide new forest management proposals;

•    discuss possible actions to combat climate change on a forest basis and possible solutions for more effective water management in the natural environment.

The conference, sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests, sees the participation of the leading national and international experts in the sectors.

The scientific contributions concern critical issues in past management and proposals for future management, good practices, Nature Based Solutions #NBS and concrete and functioning experiences that can be collected, examined and capitalized on to enrich the knowledge base of the CiBioGo project (CItizen engagement in BIOdiversity GOvernance), transnational and transregional initiative under the EU cooperation program Interreg Europe.

The general objective of CiBioGo is in fact the improvement of the institutional governance on biodiversity and on urban, territorial and large area ecosystem services for the fight against climate change starting from the "protected areas" of competence of the Province of Potenza - Network Municipalities and Resilient Communities and the related corridors ecological, through the active participation of Municipalities, local communities and citizens (information, participation, engagement, ownership) on the related decision-making processes for management, protection and enhancement.
