Acceleration programme for women in tech
About this good practice
The training programme is developed for women who decided to start their career and are lacking self-confidence or have some gaps in knowledge, skills, or setting goals for their career movement. The duration of the programme is 6 months and the programme is dedicated for women who are planning to start their careers in tech. The programme provides access to industry knowledge, and community and gives confidence for this step. Depending on a chosen cohort, various topics are covered related to the theme, and, the most important is, that this programme is based on mentorship, meaning that the learning process is going on with a dedicated mentor who is eager to provide advice, guidance and lend while the trainee is working on her own goal. The mentor during the whole programme provides mentorship not less than 12 hours. At the end of the programme, the Certificate is issued after the completion of the programme
Resources needed
The programme started with 42 pairs (trainee and mentor) and initial costs were about 10, 000 Eur. Now there are more than several hundred pairs for one acceleration programme and one cycle of such training costs around 100,000 Eur.
Evidence of success
More than 700 impact stories (re qualified or entered the tech sector after completion of the programme). It means that 52 % of all graduates start working in tech after completing the programme within a year
Potential for learning or transfer
As tech sector is facing a need to get more employees and the demand is rapidly growing all over Europe, this good practice could be a solution for many countries to employ people in tech. This good practice is already successfully being transferred to Poland, where with a scholarship from external sources, 10,000 could take this training program for free. This good practice could be a solution for a company as well which has a big demand for tech employees. Providing scholarships for potential employees they can get them within a short period. Besides, the acceleration programme is prepared in English. On the one hand, English is the main language in the tech sector, it is easier to go internationally, as mentors and trainees could be from different countries.
