Potential for learning or transfer
Patient and health schools have been shown to be effective instruments to improve patient autonomy, decision-making in their care and, therefore, control of their disease, recognizing the value of training, information and patient and caregiver experience. Patients, professionals, caregivers and entities representing users of the health system participate in them and involve the recognition of the patient as an agent of their own health. In this sense, the transmission of knowledge and adequate information for shared decision-making regarding one's own health allows people to improve their capabilities and make effective the rights of autonomy and participation after a process in which health professionals also intervene.
