Business Development Financing in the Event of Disruptions (Covid-19)
About this good practice
The funding is a grant and does not have to be repaid. There are two types of funding and it can be given to a company usually once.
1) Preliminary study funding for business disruptions - up to EUR 10,000. The amount of the grant is 80% of the total approved costs of the project and an advance of 70% of the amount of the grant awarded can be paid. With this financing, the company can find out and plan for itself new businesses, replacement subcontracting chains and the organization of production in the event of a disruption caused by the corona. The recommended duration of the project is 4 months.
2) Development funding for business disruptions - up to EUR 100,000. The amount of the grant is 80% of the total approved costs of the project and an advance of 70% of the amount of the grant can be paid. With this funding, the company can implement the development measures that it has identified in the feasibility study or otherwise as its own activities that will improve the company’s chances in and after a corona-induced disruption. The aim of the measures must be to provide the company with new solutions related to products or production. Recommended duration of the project is one year. The financing has been specifically directed to measures that increase the circular economy and the development of new circular economy innovations. Funding related to both the emergency situation caused by the corona virus and the promotion of the circular economy.

Evidence of success
Companies used the funding 79 million EUR for preliminary studies. 915 M euro for development projects that introduced new digital products and services as well as new business models and concepts towards digital leap and sustainable growth and circular economy. The dreaded wave of bankruptcy managed to avoid together with other actions.
Potential for learning or transfer
Funding was a good way to get companies in an exceptional situation to develop something new and innovate. The funding was country-wide and well-suited to many
industries. The results of successful projects are already visible and the activities started
with projects in many companies are still being continued.
