Elles Osent en Grand Est
About this good practice
Elles Osent en Grand Est is addressed to women who are between 25 and 35 years of age, implementing or creating a project.
Each year, 12 candidates are chosen to participate in Elles Osent en Grand Est. As part of the program, the candidates will attend four sessions of group coaching and a one-week professional mission in Quebec, in partnership with the Franco-Quebec Youth Office (OFQJ).
The group sessions, as well as the professional mission, involve inspiring exchanges with speakers with various backgrounds, allowing the sharing of experiences and the discovery of different ways of action. Each session focuses on a specific topic, such as “enhancing one's potential”, “building, expanding, and financing a project”, or “expressing oneself and succeeding”.
Each session is held in a distinct city, with the biggest cities in the Grand Est Region and Paris being involved.
Furthermore, as part of the program, young women have the opportunity to benefit from 4 hours of personalized coaching.
Focus on the professional mission in Canada : During this week, the young women in the program will participate in the Leadership Summit of the Quebec Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Participants will have the opportunity to meet speakers, exchange with their peers from various fields, and connect with a network of actors sharing the same aspirations in an international context, outside Europe
Overall, every edition of the program lasts about 5 months.
Resources needed
The budget for the program is €120,000. This covers the reimbursement of a variety of expenses concerning mobility, sessions’ animation and the grant of the OFQJ for the organisation of the professional mission in Québec. Usually 3 people from the Region Grand-Est work on carrying out the program.
Evidence of success
To this day, the Grand Est Region has been able to support a total of 34 young female entrepreneurs and commits to supporting 12 more in 2024. According to the former participants, the program has had a strong impact on their professional careers as it provided them professional skills that they now apply to improve their activity. In particular, many of them have had the opportunity to enlarge their professional network as well as their activity’s scope of action.
Potential for learning or transfer
Elles Osent en Grand Est aims to reduce gender inequalities in the entrepreneurial sector. This program is interesting because of the focus it puts on individuals rather than on (mass) numbers. In fact, because of how small the cohorts are, the coaches are able to work in depth with each participant, giving them personalized tools that the young businesswomen will be able to apply with confidence in their everyday life. Moreover, such format allows the participants to get into contact with inspiring personalities on a one-to-one level, which assures a real possibility to enlarge their network and to be known professionally. Moreover, another aspect which this program unique is its collaboration with a non-EU region (Québec). Such collaboration is one of the main pillars of the program as it serves as an opportunity for the participants to discover a new culture, other ways of working in the entrepreneurial field and on an international scale and encourages them to be more ambitious.
