About this good practice
As everywhere in Europe, the Pandemic blocked the access to schools .
The project concerning the Digitalization of Iasi education during Covid Pandemic addressed the problem of limited access of children and teachers in public buildings during pandemic and the necessity of finding alternative solutions to continue the education process and to adapt it to the new context.
In the frame of the project have been purchased by the Municipality 1290 IT systems including TV screens, video cameras, sound system (one for each class in all the 53 schools/high schools from Iasi) that will be used also after the pandemic to improve the education process, ensuring higher standards of education in Iasi, equal chances to access education to all categories of pupil in Iasi area, encourage innovative, creative and collaborative learning outside of the classroom
The rapid installation of the systems in schools/high schools has been ensured with IT specialist and IT local students.
Beside these systems installed in classrooms, 3000 laptops and tablets have been bought for disadvantaged children in order to ensure equal chances to education to all categories of pupil in Iasi area.
Trainings for teachers to use digitals tools for online education have been organised
The systems continue to be used in schools after the Pandemic, aiming to improve the teaching process and standards, including new innovative and attractive tools, with a strong impact on pupil education and results.

Evidence of success
Tangible results:
- all classes (1290) of all the 53 schools in Iasi equipped with digital tools for online / innovative learning
- access to education to disadvantaged pupils (3000 laptops and tablets)
- over 150 teachers with enhanced skills for digital teaching
Evidence of success
– Increased pupils achievement of academic performance - the good results at the National Evaluations 2021-2022 (Iasi City ranked in top 5 at Romanian level)
- better technological literacy skills for pupils
Potential for learning or transfer
This good practice has a high potential of transfer, especially that the EC made available important funds for such projects and emphasize the digitalization process for the next period. The most important advantage is this was not only a good solution of a crisis time during pandemic but also a long term investment in education with significant results (as mentioned previously).
