This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
The challenges associated with InnovaSaúde are structured around three main axes:
1. Patient-centered health care: development of new relocated tools (telecare, telemonitoring, web 2.0 portals for patients, etc.) that help avoid episodes of chronic disease exacerbation. In this way, the need for services based on hospitalization is reduced and at the same time communication and accessibility to patients is increased.
2. Safe and agile health care: development of new technological solutions to minimize the chances of human error by professionals, thus increasing patient safety.
3. Intelligent health care: changing the structure of healthcare services to improve efficiency in meeting the needs of patients, ensuring excellent service delivery of the highest quality.
Two of the main objectives are:
1. Searching and planning innovative solutions while managing the results of the projects from their genesis, to ensure that their results are implemented and benefit the greatest number of patients, not ending with the completion of a pilot.
2. Boosting innovation and internationalization through the articulation and strengthening of technological demand. The IPP will be an engine for health innovation and the generation of new goods and services.
14 different projects have already been implemented in the frame of InnovaSaúde. All projects have undergone an innovation procurement process including market consultations, interviews with companies and expert assessments.

Potential for learning or transfer
The Balearic Islands Government should pay close attention to this case as both territories are suffering similar demographic problems. Year after year, the number of senior citizens increases and, therefore, it is of paramount importance to innovate in the way health care is provided.
Current statistics show that 15,5% of the population of the Balearic Islands is at least 65 years old and this segment of the society are the main users of the public health system.
Both the Balearic Islands and Galicia are regional administrations with a similar structure so the Balearic Islands should be able to directly learn and apply the necessary administrative actions to carry out a similar Program.
Even though the health system budget of Galicia is higher than the Balearic Islands one (4 bn EUR vs 1,6 bn EUR), most of the projects should be implementable and similar funding sources should be available (such as EDRF).
