This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
The main purpose of this practice is to encourage the selective collection and separation of domestic waste by providing citizens with facilities where this waste can be deposited.
The Mobile Clean Point is a waste collection vehicle adapted for use by citizens, collecting different types of waste in various locations on the island of Eivissa.
This service allows the selective collection of domestic waste similar to that collected at the clean points of Eivissa which do not have containers placed on public thoroughfares. It means that more remote locations on the island of Eivissa can be reached, as well as the old town in the city. The waste that can be deposited is the same as at the fixed clean points, in small quantities. To be able to selectively collect all the waste, the vehicle used for the Mobile Clean Point service must meet specific structure and size requirements as well as an specific internal distribution.
Furthermore, it is possible to monitor the the following parameters: number of users of the Mobile Clean Point by postcode, by month, by day of the week, by amount and type of waste collected, acceptance of the location by local residents, etcetera.

Resources needed
The investment totals €1,964,758.96 (construction of 6 Clean Points and the purchase of 2 Mobile Clean Points), 80% co-financed by the EU's 2007-2013 Operational Programme Cohesion Fund.
Evidence of success
The possible success factors are due to:
-City Council staff directly control the MCP locations and timetables
-Appropriate communication and publicising of MCP locations and timetables from the start of the project
-Citizens can use any MCP in any minicipality
-The same waste is collection as at fixed clean points
The number of waste deposits at the MCP in 2017 was 362 in Vila d’Eivissa (January to August). For all municipalities on the island, 12,870 kg of waste was deposited by citizen

Potential for learning or transfer
The Mobile Clean Point means that a collection service can be provided for waste for which no containers are provided on the streets in the Old Town, without affecting or altering the space permanently, thereby increasing the amount of waste handled and reducing the presence of this waste in containers located on the street or in the environment.
It also means that people with impaired mobility or who cannot go to conventional clean points can dispose of their waste so it can be handled correctly.
