Expert opinion
Demola Latvia is an interesting practice which has been led by different institutions. Initially launched in cooperation of the local IT Cluster, Ministry of Business and national development agency, has since been handed over to the largest universities in Latvia. This illustrates the tight cooperation that different actors have had in sustaining Demola. Demola has brought together universities, regional authorities and businesses. As an indicator of success, largest Latvian companies have also become cooperation partners. Demola is a great platform for students where they can run innovative projects for free. The cooperation with the private sectors supports the realization of the projects. The Demola practice could have replication value in other regions seeking to generate innovation through activities aimed at students.
