This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
The photovoltaic power plant is located in the commune of Miroslava (Ciurbeşti) on a 5 hectares plot and has a capacity of 1MWp. The photo-voltaic plant consists of the following components:
- Mono-crystalline photo-voltaic panels - 4,200 units producing electricity with a unitary installed power of 240 Wp/each unit, including their interconnection equipment, called concentrating boxes;
- support elements for photo-voltaic panels, consisting of 97 independent trackers with the possibility of tracking the sun on 2 axes, possibility of inclination 120 degrees - for increased efficiency;
- three phase inverters - 9 units with a power of 12 kw each;
- low-voltage power lines in the cable, which converts the DC electricity produced into AC electricity through inverters;
- technical control room;
- a 45 kw diesel power group;
20 kV underground electric lines for connection of the power plant to national power grid.
The equipment, facilities and materials proposed for the investment are state-of-the-art and certified in accordance with the international standards in force. The designed electrical installations help to increase operational safety, protect the environment and aim at achieving maximum efficiency.

Resources needed
Funded from European Structural Funds through Sectorial Operational Program for Competitiveness: 76% ERDF funds, 22% state budget funding and 2% local budget contribution. The total amount of the project subject to non-reimbursable financing was of 5.9 million Euro (26.57 million Romanian Lei).
Evidence of success
Due to this investment, 7 new jobs were created and a much better structured public lighting system could be further developed covering all the streets of all villages in the commune. Once the photovoltaic park became operational, Miroslava Commune Hall became an electric power producer, some of the production being fed into the national grid which, along with the green stamp duty, will bring new financial resources to the commune's budget.
Potential for learning or transfer
This is a good example of optimization of land use by using renewable energy production technology. The main advantage for the community is the provision of electricity for local public institutions and for the public lighting system. By spending these costs, about 300,000 euros/year are being saved from the local budget, money that can be invested in other local community development projects. This investments led to a reduced dependency on primary energy resources, insertion into the economic circuit of 5 hectares of land with direct effects for the social-economic development of the area.
