This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
Valle Camonica has a heterogeneous production of wine, and a low production identity. The individualism and fragmentation that characterize the Valley in all its activities is in fact reflected also in the wine production, with the presence of 20 wineries and 40 different wines.
The Comunità Montana has developed a project aimed at the recovery of native wines in order to re-introduce a local wine production.
The project is at an initial stage and it is based on the collaboration among triple helix subjects, i.e. an administration (the Comunità Montana of Vallecamonica), a research institute (Agro-food lab of the University of Brescia) and a local wine consortium (the Consorzio Tutela I.G.T Valcamonica).
The project wants to achieve a wine production characterized by:
- higher quality
- higher sustainability
- lower number of treatments
- higher identity
Due to the innovative nature of the initiative, the project has a good chance of becoming a best practice in the field of enological studies with business repercussions. The project in this sense can become a driver both for the visibility of a marginal area in central contexts and for the boosting of the economic productivity of the sector within Valle Camonica.

Resources needed
The project is asking about 1 million Euros to the Regional Authority for a 3-years phase of test and launch, with the aim to have both a strong empirical and research impact.
If the Regional grant will not be provided, Comunità Montana will carry out the project on a lower scale.

Evidence of success
The project is at an initial stage.
The first success of this project, which already emerged, is the collaboration among triple helix subjects.
In this sense, the project, born with the aim of enhancing local resources, has already contributed to reduce the strong fragmentation that characterizes Valle Camonica.

Potential for learning or transfer
The collaboration among triple helix subjects was made possible by the initiative of
Comunità Montana, which succeeded joining different subjects by pointing out the advantages of a joined effort, both for each actor and for the Valley itself.
The story teaches that the search of a community identity can foster cooperation and networking of subjects and resources
