About this good practice
The evolution of European industries is supported by digital solutions and is depicted in what is so-called "Industry 4.0". A survey conducted by the European Social Fund on the monitoring of professional needs of industry reveals a mismatch between demand and supply of skilled workforce. It is necessary to introduce VET programs able to combine specialized sector expertise with a set of e-leadership and ICT skills.
Industry has been working closely with schools, universities, employment agencies to set up innovative programmes to supply people with key skills necessary for the digital transformation. Nevertheless, VET is yet to develop a link with the industrial sector.
The project RESTART 4.0 involves the industrial sector in the transformation of VET systems, in order to meet the need of digital skills consistent with the technological developments in industries.
Specific objectives:
• Investigate skill shortages in the 4.0 industry
• Promote VET initiatives on digital skills targeting workers through mixed partnerships
• Design training courses to update and requalify workers of the industrial sector, focusing on the uptake of digital skills
• Foster training initiatives for entrepreneurs to make them understand the potential of ICT in traditional industries
• Provide e-leadership skills to workers and managers that will lead to better employment and career opportunities

Potential for learning or transfer
RESTART 4.0 project has developed several learning resources including a modular training program in different languages. All this information has been collected and integrated into the digital training Toolbox for 4.0 Industries.
The Toolbox is aimed at developing digital skills and e-competences in industrial workers needed to foster the competitiveness of European industries in the 4.0 paradigm.
The Toolbox includes the Curriculum and Didactic Model designed by the partnership that helps in the development of a training path, the Learning Area, where training materials in several languages is available, and the Repository which includes the glossary, and other project results that helps the complement specific training in 4.0 skills.
