About this good practice
The Innovation Week, WeekINN, is the occasion to showcase to the socio-economic tissue the innovative initiatives and projects that are emerging and taking place in the city.
It is a programme full of activities related to the Innovation Strategy that is currently taking place thanks to the collaboration and the interaction of all the active assets of the city: enterprises of all sectors, educational institutions, public institutions, research and technological centres, entrepreneurs and the citizenship.
The main goal of the Innovation Week is to open a space of public debate, contrast of information, formation and visibilization around the bet that the city has made around the Innovation.
With the support of 70 organizations and agents, the event involves public institutions, educational entities, research and technology centres, entrepreneurs and citizens. The participants have the opportunity to share knowledge regarding the innovation and to discuss around how to retain and attract talent to the cities.
In 2016 the topic was how to boost talent and promote innovation through people, and well analyze the role cities must take in order to atract, develop and retain talent.
Different activities related to the internationalization of the SMEs were also held all along the week, as it is considered one of the other foundational pillars of this framework. This video reference illustrates this idea very well:

Potential for learning or transfer
This practice can be transferred to any other region or city. But to be successful, the ecosystem network must be quite mature, in order to fullfill similar objectives. Without that degree of maturity and cohesion between the different actors in the field of Innovation (such as Universities, Research Centres, Companies and the Public Sector), it would be difficult to organize a successful event. We would highlight some points that seem essential:
• To have a common claim for the Event.
• A focal point is to have the back of different and diverse kind of organizations, in order to achieve the objectives, and get more broadcasting of the event.
• In this line, organizing a full day to recognize the companies engagement in our body of work is a fundamental point.
• It is essential, a focal point, to open those activities to the citizenship -especially young people-, to be able to transfer this strategy and the actions to its final user, the citizen.
