About this good practice
The global e-waste generation has grown exponentially over the past two decades, and saving paper and energy has become a necessity and focus for businesses and public institutions. They are dynamic organizations and change over time. It is more profitable for them not to invest in devices, but to use the printing service, to always have the service available and to be able to estimate their costs.
Konica Minolta Bulgaria offers step by step solutions for document processing. This entails the following: smart processing in the printers, with an internet connection on each machine, making it possible to print anywhere within companies, resulting in large savings in papers when unnecessary prints were not automatically printed. The machines can also signal low levels of printer toner and potential errors so the amount of movements of refill and maintenance employees has been strongly limited.
The initiative leads to a lower use of paper, a strong drop in kilometers travelled by maintenance employees, less machines taken out of service, and a lower level toner use. The customer does not care to keep consumables in stock - they are sent to him automatically, as the devices are monitored remotely. Through analysis, costs are optimized and as a result, companies save money on these services (the largest savings are 40%).
The stakeholders involved are public Institutions and companies that need to print documents.

Resources needed
The projects financed so far in Bulgaria are worth over 5 million euro. The service is provided by 25 service engineers throughout the country and a customer service center of 6 people. The Customer web platform allows monitoring of consumable and service order and device utilization.
Evidence of success
The practice is considered as good because of the consumer benefits, savings and sustainable business model it provides. It provides: 80% utilization of devices; up to 41% savings of printing costs; 10,801 devices monitored remotely in Bulgaria; saved 580,000 кm travelling for 8 years.
