This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
To achieve the transformation for sustainable production of the company, several investments have been required: purchasing of new production lines for smart textiles (including biomedical textiles), creating new jobs, researching and developing new products.
The project consists in a seven-step activity plan that offers an integrated solution, handling the appropriate allocation of funds, research, training, communication and internationalization needs from Majutex. This project was supported by Innovation Norway grant. (SME Growth Programme)
The main solution applied consists in the modernization of existing production facility:
- installing new generation equipment;
- introducing renewable energy solutions;
- R&D for developing, testing and validating new textile design/product and smart fabric;
The changes occurred are focused on producing high quality textiles and smart textiles for local and international markets.
Another important component of the project was to develop a waste management plan for handling securely this process and to be capable of re-using scraps of raw materials (re-introducing in production flow – circular economy).
Also, they have developed and implemented a green production line processes with a research and innovation component focused on designing an innovative smart fabric and new textile products.

Resources needed
The total budget of this project is 1,858,350 euro, out of which 850,000 euro represents the approved grant.
Evidence of success
Reducing the production costs with the help of renewable energy and using new generation equipment. Reinserting scraps of raw materials as recyclable resources to produce fabrics. Environmentally sustainable production processes are at the core.
Success factors:
-Majutex has developed a new specialised line for producing smart textile and optimize the process for textile fabrics.
-Increasing the productivity and competiveness of the company
- Research and develop new fabrics products

Potential for learning or transfer
Developing a green factory in textile sector represents a good asset at European level, were the need for developing to a more sustainable and eco-friendlier sector is stringent. Reducing the waste from fabric process is also an important factor by reuse the scraps of raw material is important for decrease the number of supplies.
The model can be transferred to other stakeholders interested to work together for a replicable model.
Producing fabrics in a sustainable way, for a wide range of use represent an important asset for textile industry. The transformation to sustainability model developed by Majutex can be followed by other actors from this field of activity.
