Thermomodernization and energy improvements in the Daily House in Opatów
About this good practice
The subject of the practice is thermomodernization of the C-building of the hospital in Opatów. The building houses the Daily House "Senior - WIGOR". The house is intended for residents of the Opatów Poviat. The condition to live in the home are to be retired (not currnetly inactive) and over 60. The building was built in 1969. During the operation, the building underwent partial expansion and reconstruction and renovations. The current technical condition of the object can be considered sufficient. However, the individual elements of the construction and finishing, and especially the covering Roofing, external walls and window and door woodwork requires work
modernization. Due to the significant energy consumption and increasing operating costs associated with it, a number of thermo-modernization works have been designed to reduce energy losses and more economical use of facilities and increase the comfort of users building. Works are planned (among others):
• Hydro and thermal insulation of foundation walls,
• Insulation of external walls along with the renovation of plasters,
• Insulation of the flat roof with the replacement of the cover,
• Insulation of the floor on the ground,
• Replacement of gutters and downpipes,
• Replacement of window joinery with replacement of external window sills,
• Replacement of external door woodwork,
• Thermal insulation of chimneys along with processing chimney caps,

Resources needed
According to the work project, about 460 988.00 EUR was allocated to construction works (co-financing is 80%). The works were co-financed from the funds of the Regional Operational Program of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship for the years 2014-2020, Measure 3.3
Evidence of success
The proof of the success of the practice will mainly be the decrease in operating costs related primarily to the heating of the building. The construction works under this task have been completed. Insulation of external and foundation walls was carried out, window and door carpentry was replaced, the central heating and water supply installations were modernized, lighting fittings were replaced with energy-saving ones, and photovoltaic installations were made.
Potential for learning or transfer
The implemented practice indicates that thermomodernization projects can be approached comprehensively, undertaking the preparatory and billing work once. Practice shows that efficient implementation of tasks of local government units is possible thanks to their close cooperation, in this case the Opatów poviat and Tarłów commune. Practice is also a good example of the efficient use of photovoltaic cells. Modules solar cells with a total capacity of 18.55 kWp will be installed on the roof of the building. The installation will consist of polycrystalline photovoltaic modules with power peak 265 Wp. Such a range of investments will allow for total coverage of the building's demand for electricity.
Reconstruction of the old hospital building will positively contribute to the main goal of the institution which is the "Senior - WIGOR Daily House" which is to create real opportunities for the elderly to participate and implement broadly in all key areas of social life.
