About this good practice
Visit Harghita is a communication platform, co-financed by Harghita County Council and the European Union and it’s a brand aimed to promote the county’s tourism offer and the region as a whole: accommodations, restaurants, services, attractions, programs and events. The Unique Selling Point (USP) of the Visit Hargita brand is based on traditions, originality, diversity, simplicity, rural and natural sights, cultural resources.
Although the platform was deployed in 2019, during the pandemic it became a strategic tool that has allowed a coordinated marketing effort, and was able to respond quickly to changing conditions. It offered considerable support for the promotion of local tourism thus had helped the tourism sector to be more resilient.

Resources needed
After the initial funding from the Interreg project INSiGHTS, the functioning of Visit Harghita platform and all the promotion activity is financed by Harghita County Council and the contribution of the members to the associations budget.
Evidence of success
The site visit number increased:
In 2019: ~67.000 unique visitors;
In 2020: ~282.000 unique visitors;
In 2021: ~396.000 unique visitors.
The number of site visitors is the average use which is 4 minutes/user.
Total number of downloads of the application: 13.000.
Strong social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube.

Potential for learning or transfer
In our region, until the creation of the VisitHarghita platform the involvement of administrative bodies in tourism promotion was very low, almost non-existent. An administrative body taking responsibility for coordinating a wide-ranging operation is a good example on how promotion of a wider region can be done, together with offering of support.
The VisitHarghita project shows that during difficult times communication between local administration, tourism companies and other tourism actors and promotion aimed to tourists can have a good effect.
