On 1 July 2024, Hungary took over the EU Presidency from Belgium for the upcoming six months. The Hungarian Presidency 2024 set out a list of seven priorities to contribute to the peace, security and prosperity of a truly strong Europe. You can read more about the priorities at the Presidency's website.

In the Presidency's spirit of cooperation, let's have a look at how institutions from Hungary work together with others in the Interreg Europe projects and the Policy Learning Platform activities.

Hungary involved

Hungary is one of the countries which celebrated 20 years of EU enlargement this year. It joined the European Union in 2004.

With its population of almost 10 million, Hungary is one of the EU's smaller members. Yet, the involvement of Hungarian partners in the interregional cooperation projects is relatively high. After our first two calls:

  • 47 project partners bring to Hungary new ideas from other corners of Europe and share with others good practices originating in Hungary
  • 40 of the 150 approved Interreg Europe projects have Hungarian partner organisations
  • projects have a Hungarian lead partner

The cooperation interests of Hungarian partners reach across all topics covered by our programme.
