Engaging communities for climate action
We play a key role in supporting regions to engage communities in climate action. By facilitating knowledge exchange, fostering peer learning, and providing access to expert insights, our Policy Learning Platform supports policymakers to develop inclusive and effective climate adaptation strategies.
We recently presented our resources at the European Climate Pact flagship event on 19 March 2025. You can find a summary below of all the support we offer to public authorities in implementing their climate action policies.
Good practice database
The Platform provides a comprehensive repository of good practices, highlighting successful approaches where community engagement has been central to climate adaptation efforts.
From nature-based solutions to citizen-led resilience initiatives, these practices highlight how local actors can contribute to shaping and implementing adaptation policies.
By learning from tested solutions, regions can design policies that are both technically sound but also supported by their communities.
Networking events
Through webinars, workshops, and networking events, the Policy Learning Platform creates opportunities for regions to exchange experiences on engaging communities in climate adaptation.
Recent discussions have focused on participatory governance models, citizen science for climate monitoring, and co-creation of adaptation strategies.
By providing a space for dialogue, the Platform helps regions connect with peers who have successfully mobilised local communities in climate resilience efforts.
