Industry 4.0 and the SMEs digital transition: Episode 1
03 Nov 2021
14 : 00 - 17 : 00 CET
Online
The Policy Learning Platform is back with a new workshop series! Following the high demand for addressing Industry 4.0 and digitalisation topics among the Interreg Europe community members, we designed two consecutive online workshops dedicated to this topic and from two different perspectives.
Join us for the first workshop of the series on Wednesday 3 November 2021, from 14:00 to 17:00 CET. It will focus on the Industry 4.0 infrastructures and deployment.
The term ‘Industry 4.0’ or the fourth industrial revolution, refers to ‘the use in industrial production of recent, and often interconnected, digital technologies that enable new and more efficient processes, and which in some cases yield new goods and services’ (OECD, 2017, p. 27).
Industry 4.0 implies the adoption in the industrial sector of technologies that have emerged and diffused in recent years. It ranges from a variety of digital technologies such as 3D printing, the Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced robotics, to new materials such as bio- or nano-based, to new processes such as data-driven production, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI) and synthetic biology (OECD, 2017).
Industry 4.0 does not only involve the adoption of new technologies but also the adoption of the right skills, know-how, and organisational forms to fully exploit those new technologies.
By joining this event, you will learn about the importance of the digital transformation and Industry 4.0 for regional competitiveness.
We will put the spotlight on:
These topics will be tackled while featuring good practices on fostering the digital transformation of the economy and diffusing Industry 4.0 technologies.
During the workshop, we will bring to you three consecutive sessions of 50 minutes structured as follows:
During this second 50-minute session, you will discover two inspiring Interreg Europe good practices on Industry 4.0, followed by a 10-minute reflection from a discussant and a 20 minute Q&A session moderated by our experts.
During this third session, you will participate in an interactive online exchange divided into two to three parallel working groups.
We also invite and encourage the participants to prepare a slide on a regional initiative promoting the Industry 4.0 and present it to the audience.
More information about the programme can be found in the draft event agenda.
Do you have questions regarding our services? or regarding a policy challenge that your region is facing?
At the end of the workshop, starting at 17.00, our Thematic Experts Arnault Morisson and Marc Pattinson will be available for an online policy helpdesk. Make sure to book your 10-minute individual meeting!
