Regional measures to address shortages of healthcare professionals
From 3 to 4 July 2024, the Policy Learning Platform is organising a peer review for the Centre Val-de-Loire Region, France.
Centre-Val De Loire is a region located south-west of the Paris metropolitan area. The region includes extensive rural areas with low population densities.
Centre-Val De Loire has the lowest number of general practitioners per inhabitant in France (excluding outermost regions). This is a major challenge for the provision of health services in all parts of the region.
French regional authorities do not provide healthcare services.
However, their formal fields of competence are relevant for healthcare planning and provision, e.g. regional planning, training, higher education, transport, economic development and education. Regions also facilitate dialogues of local authorities and stakeholders on health issues. This allowed Centre-Val de Loire to adopt a Regional Pact on Health in 2022.
This event is by invite-only. The key learnings will be shared afterward.
