Rethinking local policies
On 31 May and 1 June, the Policy Learning Platform is excited to invite you to 'Rethinking local policies' event in Ghent, Belgium!
What will it be about?
Cities face many economic and societal challenges, such as climate change and the collapse of biodiversity, resource scarcity and building sustainable models for tomorrow, digital transition and smart solutions for businesses, among others.
Given that more than 70% of Europeans currently live in cities and that the figure is expected to rise to 83.7% by 2050, there is a pressing need to address those challenges.
In this light, policymakers have an important role to support the transition to greener, smarter and more social cities by developing integrated local policies.
During our event in Ghent, we will tackle the topic of building integrated policies from different angles, up to you to choose the one that is most relevant to you:
- Modern green districts
- Bringing back nature to the city
- Spaces for innovation
- Spaces for entrepreneurship
What you can expect
Throughout guest lectures, interactive sessions and study visits you will learn everything about integrated policies for local development.
You will also have the opportunity to:
- Engage in discussions and network with peers
- Share good practices and submit your challenges to find answers
- Discover examples and experiences on integrated policies from Ghent, our host city, but equally from other parts of Europe
'Rethinking local policies' will put the spotlight on integrated policies from four different angles. Upon registration, you will need to select the topic of your choice. We will also organise common plenaries and networking possibilities. More details will be available in the agenda.
