First DECA Task Force Stakeholder Meeting in Maribor

The first Stakeholder Meeting of the DECA Task Force in Maribor brought together key regional representatives to discuss strategies to enhance climate resilience and sustainable development. 

Participants included representatives from the City of Maribor, the Regional Development Agency for Podravje - Maribor, Public Holding Maribor, the Joint Municipal Administration of Maribor, the Municipality of Selnica ob Dravi and the Local Energy Agency Spodnje Podravje.

The session presented the DECA project, which aims to improve regional development policies for a greener Europe by refining policy instruments and exploring new financing models. Discussions highlighted the importance of financing adaptation and mitigation projects in line with EU environmental objectives such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, water protection, transition to a circular economy and biodiversity conservation.

Stakeholders highlighted the need for guidance on how to prepare climate resilience elaborations in order to secure project funding. In response, a dedicated training session will be organised to equip key stakeholders with the necessary skills and knowledge.
