Focus on WEEE - expert exchange continued in Hajdú-Bihar

At the 2nd stakeholder meeting held on 6 December 2023 in Debrecen, after a brief overview of the project, the activities carried out in the past period and the general progress of the project were presented. This was followed by a presentation of the results of the interregional event held in Campobasso, organised by the Italian partner. Considering the lessons learned in Italy, stakeholders discussed the experiences and the possible relevance of the good practices identified for the county.

As regards university courses, it was suggested that there is a need for a course specifically on WEEE, not only in Hungarian but also in English, in particular in view of the industrial investments currently being made in the county. Along these lines, the participants agreed that this line would remain one of the objectives envisaged in the project.

Following the technical discussion, the participants agreed that the most important step of the project is to raise awareness on WEEE among the general public and institutions, as the experts' comments showed that public awareness is still difficult to raise. The potential need for in-house training for local businesses was also raised, and the coordination of this with a potential university course or courses to be set up will be a task for the coming months.

The indicative date for the next expert meeting was set for spring 2024, concluding this expert meeting.
