Fourth DETOCS Regional Stakeholders Event
The Interreg Europe DETOCS project aims to support the recovery of the EU tourism infrastructure sector following the Covid-19 pandemic, amidst the energy crisis, in a sustainable and low-carbon manner.
The objectives of the DETOCS project in each partner region are to:
- Facilitate the decarbonisation of tourism infrastructure;
- Increase the energy efficiency of tourism infrastructure;
- Enhance the energy self-sufficiency of the tourism sector;
- Promote innovative forms of low-energy and low-carbon tourism, such as virtual tourism;
- Support regions in addressing the current energy crisis, which is raising energy costs as a proportion of total operational expenses, threatening profitability and economic viability.
The Malta partners—the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism and the University of Malta—are organising the fourth Regional Stakeholders Event on Tuesday, 18 February 2025.
The meeting will focus on sharing good practice examples of energy efficiency initiatives in the tourism sector from Malta and other participating regions. It will also serve as a platform for brainstorming and exchanging knowledge on successful energy efficiency and renewable energy practices that have significantly improved the energy performance of tourism infrastructure.
This includes, but is not limited to, hotels, hostels, restaurants, shops, museums, visitor centres, and other tourism-related establishments.
Participation is by invitation only.
