On 20th of March 2025, the Interreg Europe GRANDIS project will be presented within the workshop session on "The social dimension of the digital and green transition" at the Interreg Europe "Let’s Cooperate!" 2025 event in Krakow, Poland. This thematic session, running from 09:30 to 12:30 will focus on the labour market implications of these twin transitions and build on insights gained through the GRANDIS project.

The green and digital transitions are key pillars of European strategies aimed at fostering sustainable and balanced regional development. However, their societal impacts—particularly in employment, inclusivity, and skills development—require in-depth analysis and targeted policy responses. The session will bring together experts and stakeholders to discuss these challenges and opportunities, exploring the role of regional authorities in shaping policies that mitigate disparities and support a just transition.

Alain Demarez from Service public de Wallonie, Economie Emploi Formation Recherche, Département de l’Emploi et de la Formation professionnelle (Belgium), will represent GRANDIS in this session. He aims to deliver a presentation on "Women's entrepreneurial potential as a driver for the green and digital transitions" to address the following key questions:

  • How and why should we support the potential of women entrepreneurs?

  • How can we help women entrepreneurs make the green and digital transitions their own? What are the major challenges?

  • How can we help women entrepreneurs, and especially those with entrepreneurial projects, to manage the various social difficulties that are more prevalent among women?

  • Do the green and digital transitions produce more social impacts or inequalities for women entrepreneurs or aspiring entrepreneurs?

  • By integrating a gender perspective into green and digital policies, we can develop more inclusive strategies that ensure equitable access to opportunities in the evolving labour market.

A key objective of this workshop is to stimulate reflections and discussions among participants on how to craft policies that truly leave no one behind. We look forward to engaging in stimulating exchanges and sharing insights from the GRANDIS project to support better policymaking at the regional level.
