In-person action within WEEEWaste in Slovenske Konjice
On December 5th 2024, the Environmental Research Institute organized an in-person action within the WEEEWaste project at the Repair Cafe in Slovenske Konjice, bringing together 12 participants, including representatives from the Faculty of Bionics in Ptuj and members of the professional community.
The meeting focused on addressing key challenges and opportunities in managing WEEE. Discussions covered vital topics (raising public awareness about sustainable e-waste practices, exploring policy gaps to better align local practices with the EU Circular Economy Action Plan, and proposing collaborative campaigns to educate the public on the environmental impacts of e-waste).
Key outcomes included a strong emphasis on increasing awareness both within the professional community and among the general public. Participants also focused on challenges and solutions related to the collection, reuse, recycling, and recovery of WEEE, as well as strategies to align policies at local, regional, and national levels with EU sustainability goals.
This event provided a great opportunity for sharing expertise, fostering collaboration, and developing actionable strategies to promote a circular economy approach to e-waste management.
