Learnings and Next Steps for mobility: new meeting in Cork
On Tuesday 26th November, The Environmental Forum, Cork City Council and The Transport & Mobility Forum (TMF) will come together for the fourth EMBRACER Regional Stakeholders Meeting being held in the historic Council Chambers at Cork City Hall.
“Learnings and Next Steps”, will review Good Practices from the EMBRACER project, how we can learn from them and how we can identify and develop Good Practices in the Cork Region. Key stakeholders, including representatives from Cork City and County Councils, transport sectors, business, healthcare, education, community groups, and advocacy organisations, will come together to share strategies and practical applications developed through the EMBRACER project. This meeting aims to spark collaboration to develop initiatives designed to increase sustainable and active travel across Cork and the wider region.
The Environmental Forum will launch the event with TMF Coordinator, Dr. Darren McAdam O'Connell, who will highlight key insights and takeaways from the EMBRACER project since its launch in March 2023. A significant focus will be on strategies discussed at the recent Exchange of Experience event in Vilnius, Lithuania, which explored “Rethinking Modal Integration Between Public Transport and Shared, Connected Autonomous Mobility.” Darren will share updates from partners and good practices, offering potential replicable models for Cork.
Next, a representative from Cork City Council will update stakeholders on developments and initiatives in sustainable and active mobility, within the Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028.
After the presentations, stakeholders will break into specialised working groups to tackle three priority areas: Communications, Policy, and Good Practices in Cork. Groups will then present findings and work together to identify strategies and next steps for TMF to advance the goals of EMBRACER and improve sustainable and active transport in the Cork region.
