We are pleased to announce the successful completion of an online study visit focused on river flood and pluvial flood risk management in new residential developments in Estonia, with 28 participants.
The study visit featured presentations by Antti roose and Karen Katri Voll, who shared their expertise and experiences in flood risk management and urban planning.
- Antti Roose introduced the Tartu suburban district of Kvissentali, highlighting the innovative flooding risk management design and techniques implemented in the new residential development. His presentation focused on landscaping and melioration infrastructure, showcasing how these elements contribute to effective flood risk mitigation in urban settings.
- Karen Katri Voll provided insights into the Jõeääre suburban district in the Kastre municipality. Her presentation covered the general, master, and detailed planning of new suburban districts, emphasizing the legal framework, landscaping, and engineering solutions. She also discussed the involvement of stakeholders in the planning process, underscoring the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable development.
The online study visit was a valuable opportunity for participants to learn about cutting-edge approaches to flood risk management in residential developments.
