On 26 November 2019, the Policy Learning Platform hosted a workshop on developing healthy and prosperous urban eco-systems which took place in Brussels.

The workshop explored challenges and opportunities for boosting the social, economic and environmental benefits of developing urban and peri-urban eco-system. Speakers from the European Commission placed urban eco-systems in the context of the global biodiversity crisis and degradation of eco-systems service and emphasised the urgency to act. Furthermore, with the joint work of the participants and the Policy Learning Platform thematic experts, the workshop resulted into main proposals for the types of projects that should be supported in the current and future funding programmes.
