About this good practice
Andalusia is a very attractive and competitive destination which faces a few challenges to generate more added value to its tourism industry:
Andalusian tech. companies that work for tourism must offer solutions at international scale.
SMES capacities have to be enhanced to lead the changes associated with digitalization.
It is necessary to reinforce the community of international professionals with a focus of common interest in tourism, innovation and technology, open to tourism SMEs, tourist destinations and technological and innovative companies.
Andalucía LAB was created in 2007 with the mission of promoting the Andalusian tourism industry using a technological approach. At governance level, it is a Department of the Public Company for the Management of Tourism and Sports of Andalusia, dependent on the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Government of Andalusia.
It offers both services (training, consultancies, marketplace) and facilities (Demo Lab: the technology company present their solution and the tourism company visit them, co-working space and event space rental).
It provides services and support to:
- Businesses and professionals of the tourism industry in Andalucía.
- Entrepreneurs and tech businesses with innovative solutions for the tourism industry in Andalucía.
- Digital marketing entrepreneurs and professionals.
- National and international talented people willing to learn how to make a spectacular entrance in the tourism industry.

Infrastructure & Equipment: 5.000 m2 building. Initial investment in 2014 of 100,000 € (land not included)
Working space: Co-working space, Auditorium fully equipped. 11 Fully equipped training, meeting rooms. 3 rooms for large events.
Evidence of success
• This past year more than 3.000 professionals participated in the 774 actions organized by Andalucía Lab to bring the tourism industry closer to digital economy and technology, participating in digital implementation and presented intersectoral cooperation plans created in our HUB
• 67 online trainings:2.100 professionals with increased capacities.
• Around 60 Specialized tourism consultancies, 465 professional contacts.
• More than 100 tech companies have been accompanied to relevant events.
