Business Initiator (PL: Biznes Inicjator)
About this good practice
Project participants were people over 29 years of age who were unemployed. Professional inactivity was the main criteria. It was addressed to people who were in an exceptionally difficult situation on the labor market, like they were over 50 years old, had been recognized as disabled, or had been long-term unemployed. A privileged group was also women, and it was almost 55% of participants of the project. A necessary thing that was taken into account was the place of living and the willingness for establishing the company in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
The Project was composed of several aid instruments. Firstly, before the opening of the activity, the project participant took part in training (40 hours) and individual counseling (4 hours). The training was aimed at preparing the participants to open and then successfully run a company, therefore it concerned: legal, financial, and marketing issues related to business activity. Secondly, the Business Initiator participant received two types of financial support: a one-time investment subsidy (up to PLN 23,300 - EUR 5098,47) and bridge support for the first year of running a business (maximum: PLN 1,600 (EUR 350,11) for 6 months, PLN 1,200 (EUR 262,58) for the next 4 months and PLN 1,000 (EUR 218,81) for the last 2 months. Thirdly, as part of the bridging support, each participant had the opportunity to take advantage of individual specialist advice (4 hours) and advice on strategic issues for the company's development.
Resources needed
In the current situation, we suppose, that would be a great idea to run a familiar project, as Covid-19 pandemic caused, that lots of young people have lost their job. To do that, the most needed resources are finances that could be used for its implementation.
Evidence of success
-Promoting the creation of new enterprises and stimulating the growth of entrepreneurship in 120 unemployed persons and inactive ones;
- setting up and maintenance by beneficiaries of 96 companies until 30/06/2018;
- granting non-returnable subsidies and bridging support for 96 people unemployed and inactive at the age above 29 years old;
- Advisory and training support tailored to the needs of 120 Project Participants.
Potential for learning or transfer
We consider this GP as the good one mostly because of the flexibility for mentoring paths. The project was implemented in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship as part of the Regional Operational Program of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship (RPO WP) 2014-2020. The aim was to support the development of entrepreneurship (Measure 7.3, Priority VII Regional labor market). All project participants received dedicated training materials and in the case of participation in min. 80% of training - certificate of its completion. We consider this GP as a great example, as all of the information that beneficiaries gained during its implementation, gave them a huge possibility to improve their quality of life. Information that they obtained there, may help them even nowadays as the most important issues were discussed during the project's activity, such as marketing, labor law, economic law. All activities were run by qualified staff. The implementation was done with the support of the Regional Labor Office.
