Destination Management System “Let’s Marche”
About this good practice
The telematic digital platform called “Marche Digital Hub”, deployed on the web through the regional portal “Let's Marche” is an online tool aimed at creating a digital tourism hub, accessible through a dedicated multi-channel web platform, which, like a virtual bridge, allows the meeting between the needs of tourists and the Marche regional tourism ecosystem.
The tool collects and aggregates sector data and information and make them available to support operators belonging to the tourism supply chain. Furthermore, the tool allows MSEMs working in the tourism sector wthin Marche region, to share among public/private Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) information, events, services, special offers, itineraries and tourism packages that can be distributed through their on-line and off-line channels.
The valorization of data and the centralization of the tourist offer on a single platform are aimed at improving the experience of tourists in Marche region, allowing them to easily plan every phase of their trip, taking advantage of services and contents suitable for all user types.
Furthermore, the regional Destination Management System promotes the creation of regional networks of stakeholders active in the tourism sector: fostering the aggregation and differentiation of turism offer and contributing to the “de-seasonalization” of incoming tourist flows.
Resources needed
Marche Region invested funds from the PNRR in connection with resources from the Italian Ministry of Tourism for the activation of the Digital Tourism Hub (TDH), for an amount of € 176.190,47. Additionally, regional resources were invested in the Marche Digital Hub for a total amount of € 500.000.
Evidence of success
Involving public-private DMOs in the creation and development of the regional tourism ecosystem to enhance the overall value of the Marche Tourist Destination. The provision of contents and services available on the regional Hub to both external websites and DMS supported DMOs in the creation of a new set of tourism products and services.
Potential for learning or transfer
From the beginning of the project (February 2023), many steps forward have been taken:
1- Development of pilot projects for the creation of guidelines for the adaptation of public/private DMOs' technological and digital infrastructures, in order to achieve interoperability for the direct sharing of data and services between computer systems (machine-to-machine).
2- The development of interfaces for content and service management aimed to facilitate the availability on the Marche Digital Hub even for DMOs whose DMS software lacked interoperable interfaces with the regional hub.
3- The involvement of 4 public entities (for sharing destinations, itineraries, editorial articles), 1 consortium (for sharing entertainment events), the system of regional Proloco associations (for sharing editorial content and events on the territory), and a tourist association (for sharing experiences and territorial tourism offerings).
