This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
The first connection between Krakow Airport and Wieliczka Marketplace – Salt Mine was inaugurated in 2014 and by 2017 it proved a success. The trains, particularly in the morning and afternoon hours, when people travel to work and school, are literally full. An interchange was also build, including P&R facility, allowing for easier transfers from cars and local buses. In December 2016 two other FAR lines were launched. One of them passes through Niepołomice commune (Podłęże station).
The objectives of the integration of the railways with city transport were met. They were:
To limit a number of cars entering Kraków and moving around the city;
To improve the transport system;
To reduce passengers’ transit times;
To improve the availability of transport services;
Use of one integrated ticket in both trains and urban public means;
To eliminate or reduce a number of transfers.

Potential for learning or transfer
The P&R combined with fast, regular agglomeration railway will reduce the share of individual transport to public transport which will contribute to reducing emissions. In the case of an efficient public transport system, residents are able to change their habits.
Very important during the constructing works of P&R system is to take into account all the needs of travelers (parking place for: bicycles, motorbikes, cars, buses, pedestrians zone).
There is a clear need to develop this system associated with the feeder lines.
